Anne Hathaway proves to be a style icon as she wows in a houndstooth jacket in front of The View

Anne Hathaway looked typically chic in a houndstooth jacket over a white mini dress and semi-sheer black tights as she arrived on the talk show The View in New York City.

While promoting her upcoming period drama Armageddon Time, out this month, the 39-year-old Oscar winner proved she deserves her status as a style icon.

Alongside a fresh, bouncy blowout, the mother-of-two, who is married to Adam Shulman, sported oversized cat-eye sunglasses and knee-high black leather boots.

Her glamorous makeup look included a nude lipstick, blush and bronzer for a sunkissed and healthy glow.

Last month, Hathaway sat alongside Anna Wintour at a fashion show, 16 years after she starred in The Devil Wears Prada, based on the longtime editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine.

For the occasion, the ‘Ocean’s 8’ actress even seemed to recreate one of her most iconic looks from the film, with her glossy brunette locks pulled into a sleek ponytail and a dark brown leather jacket.

Wintour, who was famously portrayed by Meryl Streep, wore a long-sleeved black dress with large white flowers that was fitted at her small waist.

In footage of the trio sitting side by side, the 23-time Grand Slam champion, 40, and Wintour appeared deep in conversation while the Les Misérables star admired the fashions of other contestants.

The Devil Wears Prada follows Hathaway as a mouse-like assistant to the editor-in-chief of a prestigious fashion magazine (Streep) who finds her personal life on the wane while her career takes off.

In 2021, the film’s director, David Frankel, revealed that Hathaway wasn’t his first choice as a leading lady.

“We started negotiating with Annie to make a deal and it didn’t go well for the studio,” the filmmaker told Entertainment Weekly. “We’ve offered it to Rachel McAdams three times.”

He quipped, “The studio was determined to have her and she was determined not to.”

Meanwhile, Hathaway refused to take “no” for an answer when she met with Elizabeth Gabler, then head of the Fox 2000 studio, to discuss “why she had to play this role.”

Gabler praised Hathaway for her persistent “campaign” and revealed the actress left a hilarious message for Carla Hacken [Fox executive] in her zen garden that said, ‘hire me.’

Frankel also noted that after seeing Hathaway’s brief appearance on Brokeback Mountain, Streep wanted to “catch up with her” and predicted that they would “work well together.”

“I waited patiently for my turn and I got the call. It was the easiest yes in the world,” Hathaway gushed. “I remember the moment I found out I got the part, I just ran around my apartment screaming.”

She added, “I had some friends at the time, I just jumped into the living room and yelled, ‘I’m going to be in The Devil Wears Prada!'”

Previously, Hathaway shocked viewers by revealing that she was actually the ninth choice to star in The Devil Wears Prada.

Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman, Kate Hudson, Kirsten Dunst, Juliette Lewis and Claire Danes were also considered Andy Sachs.
