Aaron Chalmers reveals newborn son Oakley has returned to hospital for ‘unexpected’ surgery

Aaron Chalmers has announced his newborn son Oakley is back in hospital for an “unexpected” surgery after he was born with health conditions last month.

The former Geordie Shore star, 35, took to Instagram on Saturday to share a snap of himself fantasizing about the tot, which he shares with girlfriend Talia Oatway.

Explaining the condition of the ‘little soldier’, he revealed he had been struggling to breathe but is fine now with the help of nasal tubes.

The TV personality wrote in his caption: “First surgery yesterday for little man ❤️!! This was so unexpected but the surgery went well and he is now breathing normally with the help of some tubes in his nose!!

“It’s going to be a long road for my little soldier, but every mission he has makes him a little bit better.

The influencer also addressed his followers in a video he shared on his Story, where he thanked them for their well wishes from the hospital.

Aaron said: “Hi everyone, I just want to say thank you. The messages we have received have been amazing, well wishes only, just goes to show that social media can be a positive thing after all.

“Just thought I’d tell you I’m in the hospital, the little man is asleep. He’s had his cannula removed, he’s still got all the tubes and the air and stuff up his nose so he’s in pain bless him but he’s sleeping and he’s with his mama.

The Newcastle United fan added: “So yes, just sit. We’re going to try to light the match, sit down with him and listen to the match. Should be able to hear it out the window as St James’ Park is just behind us.

“I just want to thank everyone for sending a message, it literally means everything and just goes to show that social media can be a positive thing when it comes to picking people up. It’s been a rough couple of days for me and Talia and all the messages of support have met us when we needed them.

“That’s one operation less. The long road has begun, it’s longer than expected, but the first one is in. He’s breathing all by himself now, he’s got some tubes in his nose to help with breathing because the air was blocked so Talia’s maternal instinct kicked in thank goodness. She brought him up and said it was a good job.

“One less, God knows how many more have to go, but I just came to thank everyone for their support. The plan now is to go home and set it up, go away for the weekend, in a cabin somewhere, me Talia and the kids so we can spend some family time.’

Aaron recently announced that baby Oakley will “undergo surgery and no surgery for 18 to 24 months” following complications during his birth.

And after spending eight days babysitting their newborn, the couple finally announced earlier this month that they “have our little soldier home.”

Taking to Instagram, Aaron shared a snap of himself, Talia and her bundle of joy leaving the hospital the day before.

Alongside the sweet snap, he wrote: “After a long 8 days and very tired moms and dads especially mom we have our little soldier at home ❤️!! Time to settle him in and start planning his first surgery!! We have that.’ [sic]

Meanwhile, Talia uploaded a snap on Thursday of her holding her baby boy as she prepared to leave the station, before sharing that amid his health struggles, “there’s still a long way to go.”

She said, “Baby, let’s go home to family. you have a long way to go but you have all our support my strong boy.’

It comes after Aaron wrote an emotional message to his newborn son Oakley in an Instagram post on Sunday, revealing the tot has given him “nothing but worries”.

The TV personality gazed adoringly at the little one in a cream T-shirt in a photo from the hospital he and girlfriend Talia have been staying at since birth.

Aaron wrote in his caption: “You came into this world earlier this week and from the minute you arrived you gave me and your mommy nothing but worries!!

“It’s going to be a long, hard road for you and all of us as a family over the next few years but you are our little soldier and we will be with you every step of the way ❤️ Dad got you son ❤️.”

Talia took to Instagram last week to upload snaps of her eldest child Siennah meeting the newest member of the family.

While encouraging and praising her child’s use of pacifiers, Talia wrote, “The last few days have been so emotional and exhausting I just want to say thank you to everyone who has sent us love.”
